    Good post. I'll echo this.

The only way I could justify the Jets not taking Foles and the picks in this situation is if Mac, Bowles, Chan and co. have done all the evaluating and confidently feel that Mariota projects better going forward and they have serious questions about Foles. And personally, I'd be surprised if this was the case.

I'd take the young starting QB and likely in addition, a 2015 2nd, 2016 2nd, and hopefully a Day 3 pick in 2015. Gives the team a much better possibility to have legitimacy at the QB position this year and another key player

No 2016 first rounder, no deal IMO.

It amazes me that many Jet fans are masochistic enough to want to make such an awful trade if Mariota falls into our laps. Fucking brilliant...Foles will suck and Mariota will be a top 5 qb for them for the next 15 years and we'll say how god damn stupid were we? Fuck that...I'd rather take MM and see what happens than see him play well there and wonder what could have been

And if we take MM and he sucks while Foles becomes a top 5 QBs? Are you ABSOLUTELY sure it'll be you way and not the other way around?

Qb is such a guess.. More often than not picked that high they are a dissapointment.. Taking someone who is established and has proven he can read defenses and not turn the ball over 3x a game is the safe play.. The guy everyone wants is 26 not 36.. It's not an awful idea.. Foles and picks is the move. If Mariota turns out great.. Sucks for us, but I'd say history of qbs lets everyone see, odds are at this point he's a big gamble. We gambled on sanchez and smith and lost. Time to try something different

Some of the trade demand suggestions being posted here are so tame and inferior in comparison to what the team should be able to extract from Chip Kelly.

If you do the deal at #6 for Foles, you do it for no less than #20 overall, a 2016 1st and a 2017 1st plus Foles. I would ask for at bare minimum their 2nd this year as well.

Philly will probably be decent to very good (playoff team), which means the 1's you are getting the next few years would be in the 20-32 range, as close or closer to 2nd round picks as they are to top 5 selections.

    The 'Skins gave up 3 1sts and a 2nd to move 4 spots from #6 to #2 for RG3.

The 'Skins were awful in '13 so the final 1st the Rams got in the deal turned into the #2 overall pick in last year's draft, precious draft real estate. (I can't see the Eagles going 2-14 next year or the year after.)

If you assign Foles a trade value of a 2nd rounder (which is being kind, since Chip has basically undermined his value by openly professing his love for Mariota), that still makes the deal worse for the Jets than what the Rams got to move down.

Going from #6 to #20 is a huge drop. You're not going to get Cooper, White, or Fowler, and have a longshot at Parker maybe.

On top of all this, it's possible Mariota becomes the next Russell Wilson.

Even if we dont like MM we should be taking White or Cooper not trading down. Who gives a crap that Kelly wants a reunion with his QB

I'm not saying I want Foles, I was answering the topic question of why so many want him.

The reasons I listed are why. I said I wasn't particularly enamored by him.

Well. Apparently Yard Barker has reported we are already trading Mariota to the Eagles. And the draft is still two friggin months away. And Kelly's fascination with his former players at Oregon is beginning to scare me. He's got 8 former Ducks in that team. While Quakers make great college players, they usually suck at the NFL. This university doesn't get blue chip talent. WTF is Kelly thinking?

Reminds me of when Spurrier took the Redskins job and started signing Gators, although ole ball coach didn't have the success early that Kelly has.

Well. I will say one thing. There is a big difference between Spurrier and Kelly. Spurrier was a good college coach who lost interest in the NFL when he realized it would interfere with his 2 o clock T time. Kelly is as smart a coach as there has ever been in the game. The guy eats, sleeps and s---- football. If he is going to be undone, it is going to be his personal decisions.

You really think the Jets would make the trade because of what Kelly wants and not because they are interested in what they would get in return more than drafting at 6?

    Fuck, it must be true.

I could write an article that the Jets had decided to trade three first rounders for the first pick in the 2021 draft to take a current high school sophomore QB and somebody would post it and discuss it as if it must be true.
