It may be an impossible task now after signing Revis, Cro and company, but it wouldn't have been if that had been the first thing Mac did after being hired. Take care of Mo this year and Richardson in a year or two. The one caveat to that is if Mo is asking for way more than he's worth. That could be the reason why he hasn't been extended already. With the way Mac has carried out his job so far, that actually makes more sense to me than his just thinking he can deal with Mo later and he's going to be very aggressive in bringing in FAs now.

They don't have room anymore right now. We have a lot of room next year.

I don't think it's a matter of price, but freedom. Once Wilkerson signs a new contract, he becomes an integral piece to the Jets puzzle for as long as his cap hit remains relevant.

Until then, the Jets have the power. They can trade him. They can franchise him. They can decide after the draft that these things are no longer necessary and reup him then. They can approach his deal on their timetable rather than his.

I'll say this. After the Maccagnan/ Harris re-signing I feel more comfortable about them waiting on Mo than I did under the previous regime. It looks like we're doing things the right way now, and if the right way is maximizing the teams options regarding control of a player then we have to do it. If the smarter thing to do is to let Mo accumulate more games played to see how his health holds up before giving the new contract, then it's the right way to handle it.

Pigs get fat hogs get slaughtered.

I am beginning to think that Wilk is the latter.

Macc supposedly met with Mo's agent at the combine.

I can't see this one getting acrimonious. He is under contract for this year, and Mo is not the type of guy to hold out. Worst case, they can always franchise him next offseason.

It's very much a matter of price though. It's always a matter of price .
