A 'sign of trouble' would be regressing to 5-11 or 7-9 after a ten win season... A collapse would be 3 wins or fewer without any significant injuries....

If we were 'frontrunners' we would not be rooting for the Jets..... I go to just about every home game, regardless of record.... Being critical of an underachieving team has nothing to do with being a 'frontrunner' and everything to do with being a fan....

Nope, 5-11 would definitely not be ok with me, however it wouldn't be a firing offense.

This discussion and thread are about what happens if the Jets finish terribly this year. So waiting until the end of the season has no applicability at all to the discussion.

Any team that loses to the Dolphins this year should fire their HC.

It won't. Eric has Woodys complete backing and everyone in the FO signed on to have EM get a couple of seasons from the get go.

You consider this team a regression from the 2005 jets, but that is your opinion because of the record. But not everybody , specially the people that pay the bills, is looking at the team in that same measure.

And Baker, and TJ too; yes there have been several players who have expressed dissatisfaction with the coaching this season. And those are just the ones who said it publicly. I think there are people who overlook it because they dont want to see it.

Vilma explained why he said what he said. He didn't think he was hurt enough to come out, but it turned out he was. That other stuff I wouldn't classify as grumbling either. Those are just natural comments coming from players after a loss when emotions are high.

Grumblings would be what the Giants had last year after all of the talking going on from Tiki, Shockey, Strahan, etc. They never let up, and it became a distraction. There was the same type of talk out of them this year starting the season 0-2, but then when they started winning, they shut up. I guarantee you if the Giants start losing some games again, their players will start openly complaining often, and loudly, because that's the type of players they have.

There is more to this story then just the record. The dirty little talk around the NFL, Mangini and spygate. It has made a lot of teams hate the Jets even though they may agree with them. I can see Mangini being gone and the record being blamed even though that may have little or nothing to do with it.

And I think there are other people who make it out to be way more than it is.

First we will not go 1-15 this year -- that being said -- Mangidiot will keep his job -- I personally do not have anything against him yet -- he gets one more season on the slowmoe scale b4 I would call for his head -- and I call him Mangidiot as a joke because I have always hated the Mangenious tag that the fans and media bestowed upon him -- God I hate that nickname --
THe Clemons era starts Sunday -- J-E-T-S- JETS JETS JETS --

    WE WILL FINISH 6-10 --

Greenbay under Lombardi and the Steelers unde Knoll grumbled like crazy. The only time veteran players on a rebuilding or lossing team don't grumble is when they aren't asked to work.

Miller got plenty of playing time last year and played himself off the roster. Smith has been hurt most of the year and Coleman is to soft a player to help with run stopping, Elam has played inconsistent but he has added a lot of energy and some toughness to a D that has been in desperate need of both.

Dyson has been nicked up and outright blew against the Giants. Saying Baker was benched for speaking out is simply speculation but in fact if he broke the team rules I have no problem with him being desciplined. The fact is the guy isn't a great blocker and Pennington hardly uses him so it's not as if we lost anything.

The two leaders of this team on the field, Pennington and Vilma did nothing to help this team win some very winable games. It's time to find out who the young leaders of this team are. Mangini is doing that, maybe it's late but I don't see how 3 or 4 wins and cleaning out the dead wood is any worse than 5 to 7 wins and the dead wood leading the team next year makes Mangini a better or worse HC. I suspect besides a major turnover in personal we will see some different coaches on the sidelines.

No chance Mangini gets fired. Mangini was brought here to build something. I think he'll have at least two more years. Mangini will bring in his guys (who I hope aren't garbage New England high character castaways) and get rid of guys who don't fit (Vilma).

Pete Carroll should have gotten a second year. Mangini should get a third; and, depending on how it pans out next year, possibly a fourth. Too trigger happy, in my opinion. Besides, who would we hire other than Cowher, The Spitter from Spittsburgh?

Honestly, if we could get Cowher to come in here and run the team I'd be much happier. Trying to emulate New England is a risky proposition even if you do it right, which the Jets are not so far.

The advantages of having Cowher would be that he has actually contributed at a high level to a very successful franchise over a span of more than a decade. He has a better idea of what it takes to compete at the top levels than Mangini has or likely ever will.

It takes the right players to emulate the Patriots. The Jets don't have those players yet. You can't expect them to play like the Patriots overnight.

Once again we are beating a dead horse! Mangini will quit before he's fired. I can see a hand written letter saying ?I quit as the head coach of the NYJ" Mangini will leave to become a coach of a celebrity floor hockey team called the Lungers.

We'd be a shoo-in for The Spit Bowl. And we'd win it, too. The Superbowl is a whole other story.

Dunno, other than Weeb and Michaels, coaching this team is like the kiss of death or something.
