what are you waiting for armand? if you choose to cast a 37-13 victory in the most negative light possible then that's up to you. Hint: if you are blaming sanchez b/c the jags took out some D starters - then you might be a hater. But feel free to be a hyper critical negative nellie - meanwhile, the team looks better the OL looks better, Sanchez looked pretty good overall, the running game was solid, receivers were getting open and catching balls. sure there were some drops, bad passes, wrong patterns, some mistakes - of course - its a preseason football game. if you insist upon perfection in an august football game - you're going to be disappointed every time. I saw alot of good things in that game. impressed with what MM is doing with the offense and I think it will help Sanchez to cut down on mistakes, move the chains and put points on the board. Team looks to be improved and Sanchez looks to be improved. I'm sorry if that isn't negative enough for you.
I don't insist upon perfection...competence would be nice. Not being a whiny baby after an interception would be nice. So far, Sanchez has shown neither in the Jacksonville game. Ignoring Sanchez's mistakes while at the same time ignoring the context of TWO of those scores (Sanchez playing against 2nd team, which will NEVER happen unless we're getting blown out) is naive.
Is it really hard to understand that I want the QB to play at a high level, not waste 2 RZ opportunities to 0 points, and struggle to play consistently good for 3 quarters? Well no, Sanchez played average last night. It was the typical Sanchez we have seen, a couple brilliants drives but then tagged on are a couple brutal drives. He played average and left too many points on the board. I did recognize Sanchez played great in the 1st quarter. You seem to not recognize he undid most of that good work int he 2nd quarter and the 3rd quarter was average and he lost his touch and throws from the 1st Q. If he plays like he did against JAX all season, we are going to have a losing record. And the annoying part is that the INT seemed to affect him the rest of the game. Didn't look the same after that. 1. Jeremy Kerley 2. Rex Ryan 3. Everyone else
So you think this is about what you want???:lol: The jets won the football game convincingly and w/many good performances. Sanchez played pretty well and needs to keep improving. if you want to blame him for you not getting what you want thats up to you. But its a freaking august preseason game - a few mistakes are to be expected ...regardless of what you want.:lol:
Who sanchez played against and showed NOTHING... At least this kid has the ability to be great why not work him more and see if we can make something of him. We all know what we have in sanchez and it isn't pretty, he's a fragile deer in the headlights shakebox.
Not that Simms will buck the trend or anything (I really have never seen him play except for last night) but, while it's not the norm, there are many college kids who get to the Pro's and are BETTER than they ever were in college. Can't say why really but here is an example: Jeff Garcia's college career: 6-4-1 in 1991 7-4 in 1992 2-9 in 1993 There have been more at all positions but I just happen to know a bunch about Garcia so he was my example. Sometimes the kid is just a lights out performer in the NFL... One thing to keep in mind about college, especially about former Pro's kids...there are VERY unrealistic expectations placed on these kids. Some can handle the pressure...some can't. Maybe Simms is finally "under the radar" enough that he can just do what he does. Who knows...but you can't always hold a kid's college experience against him. Having said that, Sanchez was boringly AVERAGE last night. I am tired of AVERAGE...flat out TIRED of it. I'm sick to death of hearing that an Offensive Coordinator had to "alter" his offense to coddle fucking Mark Sanchez. He's a 5th year pro and if he can't play to the level of the offense then his ass needs to ride the freakin' PINE! How bad is it that some of you Jets fans are complicit in coddling his damn mediocrity! There was ZERO improvement last night from 2009/2010. ZERO!!! He looked like the same god damn Jekyll and Hyde asshole he's been since he GOT here. Improvement would have been him shaking off that interception and lighting the Jags up the next two or three series. But nooooooooooo....he completely shit the bed in the 2nd quarter and then our Offensive Coordinator had to alter HIS offense to protect his non-productive ass. Booooo freakin' hooo! He needs to man up or get the hell out. And, if Geno Smith is injured then you get Gmac or Simms out there...if you don't like those two you go FIND some asshole who you CAN throw out there. Period.
I hate the term "hater." I don't even know what it means. It is thrown around any time somebody has an opinion about a player that differs from someone else's opinion. The Tebowmaniacs threw that term around all the time, when all rational Jets fans were saying is that Tebow was not good enough to play QB in the NFL. If you watched that game last night and came away happy because of the score, I just don't know what to say. That score meant that the players wearing the Jets uniforms who will mostly not make the team were much better in the second half than those wearing the Jags uniforms who will not make the team. The first half, starters against starters, was horrible. Sanchez looked awful after the first drive and left between 6-14 points on the field by failing to score twice inside the 5. The defense got absolutely shreaded and one of the best players on defense was injured. It was a bad night. Period.
Bullshit...there was NOTHING convincing about it. NOTHING...and certainly NOT anything convincing with Sanchez at the helm. The NY Jets won the game...NOT Mark Sanchez...if you can't distinguish the difference between the two then stop commenting...because you only look more ridiculous. To quote a Kristian Dyer on the Yahoo's Shutdown Corner:
Sanchez led 5 Scoring Drives in the game. If you want to argue that moving the chains and scoring points is "nothing" then you are wrong. btw - if u think matt simms is going to be "great" then you would be in a small minority if NFL scouts and talent evaluators. He was great at don bosco prep but not so much thereafter. in any event we are working him. he just played last night. he looked pretty good. Both QBs who played last night looked pretty good. The negative nellies insist on trashing Sanchez even when the Jets win 37-13 w/5 scoring drives from Sanchez who helped put 27 points on the board in 3 quarters. Still the haters gonna hate.
I can't comment anymore against this...this is someone who is going to be happy as a clam to roll 8-8 this year, or worse. I can't waste my energy here.
You must work for the obamas press corp, they'll put a spin on ANYTHING in order to make it sound good... but EVERY RATIONAL person out there knows he's an incompetent boob... JUST LIKE sanchez
If Obama was an "incompetent boob" then what do you call dubya? Not trying to derail the thread but please keep the politics out of this. You're simply gonna open up a whole new can of worms.
I am talking about TODAY, NOW, CURRENT... I'm not talking Richard Todd, Matt Robinson, Ken O'Brien , Boomer Esiason... I'm talking about the CURRENT NY Jets QB just like the CURRENT POTUS,... but AGAIN ONLY A BOOB would bring up comparisons of the past during a conversation discussing the PRESENT.
I'll agree with that statement, that's why I stated "rational"... just like not everyone out there will think sanchez is playing poorly but I think most "rational" people do. I never even heard of Matt Simms before last night but what I saw of him was something I haven't seen in a jets uniform in a LONG time. Having a cannon of an arm does not make you great, good or even an adequate QB just look at Browning Nagle, ugh. But I did like what I saw of Simms, he looked over the field and chose the proper receiver and more importantly was able to get the ball to him in a catchable location in a nanosecond. I just want to see more of him to better evaluate him and see if he can be something special for us. Unfortunately I think Rex sticks by some of "his" guys too much when he shouldn't... aka sanchez.
There was no reason to see more of Simms. He's a current 4th stringer behind the likes of Sanchez, Geno and McElroy.
There has been plenty of time for our coaching staff to evaluate and see what we have in Simms. Now, during the preseason heading into regular season isn't the time. Sanchez needed/needs these reps a whole lot more than Simms does. Same goes for Geno Smith. If the coaching staff loves Simms ability, talent along with overall potential then they'll keep Simms over McElroy. If not, Sanchez, Geno and McElroy are our 3 quarterbacks heading into week one. So, what was the point of "seeing more" of Simms of all players? To potentially release McElroy in favor of Simms? And (potentially) release McElroy due to Simms getting playing time against a Jaguars defense fielding backups during a 2nd preseason game? Makes little sense...
