    I think if you expand it to overall GM perfromance and not just the draft, its a better argument for which GM was worse.

    -Macs drafts thus far have been poor, maybe not Idzik bad but headed that way
    -Mac spent a bulk of our FA dollars on 30+ year old players and wasnt able to even get 2 years of playoff contention from it.
    -over half those FAs are likely to be gone within a year
    -trades have yielded us just 1 good season of play and no long term piece other then maybe skrine who at best looks like an average#2 corner at at worst a vastly overpaid nickelback.

    the team has gotten older, not restocked us with much young talent, and our cap situation is worse unless we just unload all the guys he signed in year 1.

    best case: he cleans house and we are left with 40-50 million in cap space and a top 8 pick.

    In other words, after 2 seasons, we are in the potentially in the EXACT same spot we were when Idzik got fired:

    * Horrible mess of a team coming off a 4 win season
    * tons of cap space with tons of holes to fill
    * a mess of a QB situation with young high drafted guys we dont have alot of faith in
    * a head coach who probably needs to be fired.
    * a top 8 draft pick
    *STILL in major need of a LT/Edge rusher/QB
    * a disgruntled fan base ready to call for the coach/GM's head

    honestly, you can say Mac is better then idzik but in 2 years really what have we accomplished? we still need to find long term replacements for mangold, harris and clady(fergeson). We still have a horrible mess in the secondary. We still need to find someone to play QB. We still have to figure out the logjam on the dline. We still need to find offensive playmakers. We probably still need to find the right coach. and we still need to start drafting guys who can be long time starters.

    i mean, other then fix special teams... which would have been hard to not improve on... not much has changed

    It's just too early to call Mac's drafts now. Many of these guys can end up being very good players or rapidly fade into obscurity.

    Lee hasn't been impressive, but it seemed likely he wouldn't be an impact player from the start especially entering as a redshirt sophomore. Too early to call Jenkins, Burris and Shell have shown some potential. At least Peake has gotten on the field and made some catches as a 7th round rookie and Edwards has been a little disappointing, but still an upgrade over recent others. Can't say I'm hopeful for Hackenberg, but who knows.
