I feel you... I actually really like Saleh. The culture he's building seems to work with the players and he garners a ton of respect. It's not surprising, as a defense guy, that he's learning on the job with Wilson. I would bet money that he got the directive from higher up that they needed to find out 100% if Wilson is "the guy." I think they now know. There's been many a HC who didn't have the stones to make a move at all. It may have been late but he did give him the hook and I'd be willing to bet Wilson would still be on the bench if they had a better option. Let's face it, you put Flacco back there, with the o-line all injured, and he's a dead man walking. Going forward, until White is ready, you start Streveler with Flacco as the backup. Wilson shouldn't even dress the last 2 games. Unfortunately, we DID spend the #2 pick just last year on the waste. So, sadly, we will have to endure him next offseason. There's not a GM in the league that will give us squat for him so he's either on the team or release. My guess is they'll make him compete with whomever we bring in. Someone floated Brissette as a potential idea. JimmyG would work too, injuries not withstanding. Anything that gives us 5+ years of continuity. We can then focus on finding our "franchise." Just tossing ideas out there.
Oh I get ya. Yeah, agreed. That was the beginning of the end of Zach's confidence. It only got worse from there. Then he somehow beat Buffalo the following week, so we think maybe he is okay. Then the complete melt down in New England and he hasn't been the same since. Unfortunately, neither has the rest of the team, besides that Bears game.
Well hers my take.. At first take , I was ready to hit the like button on Vilmas Post Then, I thought how mad Mean Dean would be after making him list 12 wonderful things about how great a coach RS is ..hahah But Atm I am more inclined to say an Offer for Sean Peyton is really 2 years late Saleh has the Team emotionally invested in him and the Defense was pretty spectacular..the Offense was a mess with Zach but had a boost when MWhite was in there but then that ended up on a stretcher Strevelor appears to be a special ops assignment QB like Taysum Hill but who knows? He needs further evaluation So I agree with others ..lets get a Legit QB in here Carr Minshew or Possibly Garrapplo who I like but just is too injury prone..Lamar Jacksons backup Hundly is also a consideration as he is a PrO Bowl alternate this year With Zach and Flacco out of the equation and I don't see Wilson beating out any other QB for numerous reasons. And we can start to win games! When that happens any Coach is a Hero
No need to debate any more on Zach, the verdict is in: Jets decide on Zach Wilson future (msn.com) and the jury has decided correctly.
We were not expected to be a playoff contender this year Saleh has done a decent job besides, Payton is going to cost us draft picks no thank you...
How many coaches would look good if they were given Zach Wilson as their QB? And how would Saleh look if the Jets had successfully tanked for Trevor or drafted Fields or done literally anything else at QB?
