tomdeb: I don't think the refs were nearly as responsible for last week's gag fest as the Jets just flat out blowing chunks. Just like that Cleveland game in '06 (rrrrrrrrr!). Were we robbed? Most definitely. Should we have been in that position? Nope. Still, it happens to most teams at some point or another, but the Jets need to simply concentrate on playing good ball instead of worrying about whether the refs are going to rob us or not.
Really? I am sure that was not Roughing the QB. I am also sure that ws not Offensive PI I am 100% postive The Stuckey catch should not have been whistled dead.
The roughing the qb call was for helmet to helmet and the offensive PI was reasonable.. I don't remember that catch too clearly, but I might agree with you on that one.
i agree with the several posters who see the refs trying as hard as possible to call a perfect game with all the naitional focus that will be on them. can you even imagine ANOTHER game changing blown call in a bolts game? worse if against the bolts, true, but also really bad if against the jets just as well. look for a lot of official huddles to discuss flags, with a few overturns by the head ref. trivia: name the ref and players involved in this call: "15 yard unsportsman like penalty for...for...for giving him the business down there"
I think they only time I thanked refs for a horrible call in the Jets favor was when Testaverde's helmet was about three miles from the goal line and the ball was somewhere near the NJ Tpke. I felt it was divine payback for all the years we got the shaft, but I also I admit I felt guilty for, oh, I don't know, maybe about three seconds. Touchdown!
I am right there with you ... and while Jet QB's can get the shit knocked out of them no matter how much time has past since they released it ... you can bet there will be at least ONE roughing the QB called against the Jets. Happens every game against NE.
