Jets Release Marvin Jones

Admin - March 3, 2004

The Jets continued purging their roster on Wednesday as they released LB Marvin Jones.

Jones spent his entire career with the Gang Green where he played in 142 games, recorded 1,018 tackles (713 solo), 9 sacks, 5 interceptions, and forced 10 fumbles.

It initially will cost the Jets $50,000 against the cap to release Jones, but they will end up with a net gain of $450,000 once he signs with another team.

The Jets also restructured the contract of CB Donnie Abraham to save $1.8M of salary cap space. Abraham signed a 4-year extension worth approximately $9.0M.
