The New York Jets have announced that they signed LB Jonathan Vilma, their 1st round draft pick. Vilma, 6'1", 230 lbs, was selected #12 overall in the 2004 NFL Draft.
Vilma signed a 5-year deal worth a total of $10.3M, which includes a $1.22M signing bonus and an option bonus of $6.03M next spring. Also, he can potentially earn incentives that total $3.9 million. More details of his contract will be posted as soon as they become available.
Additionally, the Jets signed RB Derrick Ward, a 7th round selection. Ward, 5'11", 233 lbs, from Ottawa University was chosen #235 overall.
TheGangGreen.com has also learned the details of the contract signed by LB Darrell McClover. He signed a 4-year deal worth a total of $1,432,170, which includes a $52,170 signing bonus. His base salaries are as follows: $230,000 (2004), $305,000 (2005), $385,000 (2006), $460,000 (2007).
