Jets Preseason

Mangini starts with a loss

Admin - August 11, 2006

The Eric Mangini era started tonight as the Gang Green took on the Buccaneers in Tampa and lost 3-16.
QB Chad Pennington started the game and did not impress, as he mostly threw short passes, completing 9 of 14 for 54 yards and losing a fumble.
QB Kellen Clemens replaced Pennington in the second quarter and went 10 of 14 for 92 yards, including a 25-yard completion to WR Reggie Newhouse.
RB Cedric Houston gained 17 yards on 5 carries, while WR Laveranues Coles led the team with 5 receptions for 27 yards.
The first team defense performed well, allowing just 11 yards against Tampa's first team offense. The backups, however, disappointed, as the Jets allowed a total of 305 yards, including 167 on the ground.
On August 19th the Gang Green will face the Washington Redskins. The kickoff time is at 8:00 pm.
