Jets Preseason

Jets suffer another loss

The New York Jets suffered their season preseason loss, as the offense gained just 184 yards against the Giants. The cross-town rivals did not look much better but did enough for a 13-7 win.
The Gang Green's first team offense failed to score, raising more and more concerns about this unit's ability to put points on the board. In their three first quarter possession, Chad Pennington and Co. punted twice and gave up another possession due to a fumble. The second quarter wasn't much better. The Jets went three and out on their first possession of the quarter, then missed a field goal on what looked like a promising drive after WR Justin McCareins' 40-yard reception.
Mangini decided to leave the first team offense on the field for just one possession in the second half - only to see Chad Pennington throw an interception.
QB Kellen Clemens looked even worse, completing just 3 out of 11 passes and also throwing an interception.
The first team defense played pretty well, as SS Kerry Rhodes and DT Dewayne Robertson registered one sack apiece. FS Erik Coleman had an interception in the first quarter. LB Darrell McGlover blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown, saving the Jets from being shut out.
QB Chad Pennington finished the game just 11 of 20 for 125 yards, 1 INT. RB Derrick Blaylock led the team with 9 carries for 35 yards. WR Laveranues Coles had 5 receptions for 50 yards.
LB Jonathan Vilma recorded team-high 9 tackles (7 solo). FS Erik Coleman added 8 tackles (5 solo) to his interception.
The Jets will conclude preseason next Friday against the Philadelphia Eagles. The kickoff time is at 7:00 PM ET.
