Jets Preseason

Jets beat Eagles

Admin - September 2, 2006

The New York Jets overcame a 17-point deficit to beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 20-17, in their last preseason game.
The Gang Green fell behind in the first half, as they let the Eagles score on every possession in the second quarter. QB Kellen Clemens did not look impressive for the second game in a row. He threw an interception, which led to an Eagles' field goal and finished the game with a quarterback rating of 52.1.
The Jets changed the momentum in the second half when Clemens was replaced by QB Patrick Ramsey and the running attack finally showed signs of life. On the first drive in the third quarter RB Cedric Houston carried the ball 5 times for 34 yards, as the Gang Green marched deep into the Eagles' territory. Ramsey connected with WR Dante Ridgeway for a 14-yard touchdown, cutting Philadelphia's lead to 17-7.
Later in the quarter PK Mike Nugent scored a 49-yard field goal, putting the Jets within one score, 17-10.
Nugent scored another field goal half way through the final quarter, and the Jets almost instantly found themselves with the ball again when CB Drew Coleman intercepted a pass.
Seven plays later WR/QB Brad Smith scored on a 9-yard run, 20-17.
The Eagles tried to answer but their attempt to recapture the lead was cut short when the Jets' defense stopped them on a 4th and 1 from the Jets' 2-yard line.
Tomorrow the Jets will cut down their roster to 53 players and on September 10th they will travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans in the first regular season game.
