Jets Player Release

Jets ready for free agency

Admin - March 1, 2007

The New York Jets released RB Derrick Blaylock on Wednesday and also, according to the NY Post, let go of DE Bobby Hamilton to create even more salary cap room. The free agency period starts on Friday and the Gang Green with over $25M in salary cap room can be potentially a major player in the market.
The Jets could be looking at San Diego's RB Michael Turner who has averaged 6.0 yards per carry as L. Tomlinson's backup. Turner, however, would cost a 1st and a 3rd round draft picks if the Jets do decide to pursue him.
Then, there's also Baltimore's LB Adalius Thomas who recorded 11 sacks last season and would be a good fit for the Jets' 3-4 defense. But once again the price will most likely be very high and the New York Jets are not known as big free agency spenders.
