Jets make Faneca highest paid OL

The New York Jets and Pro Bowl OG Alan Faneca agreed to terms on a five-year, $40 million contract Saturday, which includes $21M in guaranteed money, making the former Pittsburgh player the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL. Faneca, 31, planned to fly to New York on Sunday, take a physical and officially sign the deal Monday.

The Jets last season refused to re-do the contract of Pete Kendall, resulting in the trade of Kendall to Washington. Kendall's departure created in a big hole at left guard that the Gang Green was unable to patch last season. Faneca is a proven commodity, as the Jets landed one of the top free agents on the market.

Former Jet S Erik Coleman signed with the Falcons.
