Baker gets contract extension

The New York Jets have signed TE Chris Baker to a contract extension. The new deal is reportedly for 3 years that will pay Baker $12.2M, including $9M in guaranteed money if he if he plays in half the team's offensive plays this season. Baker could also become a free agent if the Gang Green decides against paying the guaranteed money.

Baker demanded to be traded during the summer but did report to training camp as the negotiations about the contract extension were already on the way. He had 2 catches for a total of 34 yards in week 1 against Miami.

PK Mike Nugent is going to miss the game against the Patriots due to a thigh injury suffered against the Dolphins. He'll be replaced by free agent PK Jay Feely whom the Jets signed earlier this week. In order to create a spot for Feely on the roster, the team had to release LB Kenwyn Cummings.

In other news, the Jets released WR Larry Brackins and OL Stanley Daniels from their practice squad. They also signed TE Brad Listorti and OL Stefan Rodgers to the practice squad.
