Training Camp

Friday afternoon practice report

Admin - July 31, 2009

The sun finally showed up in the afternoon as Gang Green took the field (no pads this time) for the second time today. There were also noticeably more fans, but still far from what I saw last summer at Hofstra. Nevertheless, the crowd did seem more lively and involved than they had been during the rainy morning session.

The Clemens vs. Sanchez duel continued and it was pretty even this time. Sanchez looked pretty consistent throwing medium and short passes, while Clemens threw the pass of the day - a long completion to WR Brad Smith who easily outran the secondary and scored.

Disgruntled RB Leon Washington participated in the session and made a highlight play of his own. Leon caught a short pass close to the left sideline, dodged a few tackles, and ran down the sideline. WR Jerricho Cotchery looked pretty consistent catching passes and it seems like he's the only stable receiver on this team. Well, besides TE Dustin Keller who also looked good. The rest of the WR core were dropping balls and surely have a lot of work to do.

P Reggie Hodges impressed, booming punts from one sideline to another. CB Ahmad Carroll intercepted a pass thrown by QB Chris Pizzotti and returned it for a touchdown.

As always, stay tuned for pictures from the afternoon session...

Ok, some pictures are up and more on the way...
