Jets Player Release

Jets waive Woodhead and three others

Admin - September 6, 2009

Fan favorite RB Danny Woodhead lasted only one day on the Jets' active roster, as the Gang Green waived him along with RB Brandon Renkart, P Reggie Hodges and OT Mike Kracalik to make room for four new additions they acquired on Sunday. The Jets signed P A.J. Trapasso Sunday off waivers after he was cut by the Titans. The other additions were FB Jason Davis (Bears) and TE Matthew Mulligan (Titans) and QB Kevin O'Connell (traded from the Lions for an undisclosed draft pick ).

P A.J. Trapasso is a rookie who was released by the Titans. He is best known for bouncing a punt off the Cowboys' $40 million scoreboard. He also scored a touchdown against the Bills during the Hall of Fame game last month on a fake punt.

FB Jason Davis spent his entire 2-year career with the Chicago Bears. Last season he played in 5 games, carried the ball once for no gain and caught one pass for 12 yards.

QB Kevin O'Connell was a 3rd round draft pick out of San Diego State last year. He completed 4 of 6 passes for 23 yards last season while playing for the Patriots.
