Woodhead is back with Jets, injury update

Admin - September 8, 2009

The New York Jets brought back RB Danny Woodhead, who ran for 158 yards in the final preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was signed earlier today to practice squad. The Jets also released FB Jehuu Caulcrick to make room for Woodhead.

Woodhead, 24, recorded 9,259 all purpose yards in college, which ranks second on the NCAA all-time list. He spent some time on the Jets' practice squad last year.

It was reported earlier that DE Mike DeVito, who's projected to start on Sunday in place of suspended DE Shaun Ellis, might not play due to a hamstring injury. Head coach Rex Ryan, however, stated that DeVito and RB Shonn Greene (rib injury) are both ok and should be ready to go against the Texans.
