Jets try out cornerbacks, final injury report

Admin - September 25, 2009

It's now official that both CB LIto Sheppard and CB Donald Strickland will not play on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. CB Dwight Lowery will start in place of Sheppard, while CB Drew Coleman will replace Strickland at nickel.

The Jets brought in CB Corey Ivy and CB Justin Miller for visits Friday, according to a report by the Carroll County Times. This might be an indication that the injured cornerbacks could be out beyond just this week.

Ivy, a 9-year veteran, who played for Rex Ryan with the Ravens in 2006-08, almost signed with the Jets this offseason. Ivy was cut by the Browns in the preseason.

Justin Miller, who spent the first three years of his career with the Jets, is an excellent return man but average at best in coverage (zero interceptions in 41 career games).

Final injury report:

Out: CB Lito Sheppard (quadricep), CB Donald Strickland (ankle)

Questionable: G Matt Slauson (ankle)

Probable: QB Kellen Clemens (right elbow), DT Kris Jenkins (back), S Jim Leonhard (knee), CB Dwight Lowery (ankle), C Nick Mangold (toes), DT Sione Pouha (ankle), QB Mark Sanchez (knee), LB Bryan Thomas (ankle), LB Jamaal Westerman (quadricep), T Damien Woody (shoulder), WR Wallace Wright (hamstring)
