Jets place Larry Izzo on IR

Admin - December 10, 2009

The New York Jets placed special teams ace LB Larry Izzo on injured reserve, ending his season and probably career as well. The 14-year veteran, one of Mike Westhoff's favorites, was in his first season with the Jets after spending 8 seasons with New England and 5 with Miami. He recorded 7 tackles for the Gang Green this season and forced one fumble.

The Jets have also signed LB Josh Mauga and C Michael Parenton to the practice squad. Both of them spent time with the Jets during training camp before being among the team's final cuts.

LG Alan Faneca was excused from practice today with an illness and sent home. He's expected to play against the Buccaneers on Sunday.

S Eric Smith continued to practice with the first-team over S Kerry Rhodes.
