Jets Regular Season

Jets dominate Tampa Bay in first half

Admin - December 13, 2009

The Jets are leading Tampa Bay 19-0 at halftime, as the defense completely dominated the first half. The Gang Green limited the struggling Buccaneers to just 15 total yards and no first downs. MLB David Harris had an interception on the first play from scrimmage that led to a Jets' field goal.

PK Jay Feely converted all four of his field goal attempts, including two 49-yarders.

RB Thomas Jones had trouble running the ball, as the Bucs clearly concentrated on stopping the Jets' running game. In the second quarter Jones finally broke through on a 33-yard touchdown run that basically sealed the game for the Gang Green. Jones finished the half with 12 carries for 77 yards, 1 TD.

QB Kellen Clemens was just awful. He was 7 of 16 for only 52 yards, missing open receivers throughout the entire half. On one play he missed wide open WR Danny Woodhead who was just 3-4 yards away from him.

Will we see QB Erik Ainge in the second half? It's doubtful, but I sure hope I won't see Kellen Clemens on the Jets' roster beyond this season.

Tampa Bay's 15 first-half yards are fewest in any half by Jets opponent since the Colts gained 3 yards in the 2nd half of their 17-10 home win in 1995.
