Revis finishes second. Edwards, Sheppard miss practice

Admin - January 12, 2010

CB Darrelle Revis finished second in The Associated Press 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting with 14 votes. CB Charles Woodson of the Green Bay Packers won the award with 28 votes. Despite shutting down elite wide receivers all season long, Revis just did not put up the stats impressive enough to challenge Woodson for the award. Revis finished regular season with 6 interceptions and 1 touchdown. Woodson, on the other hand, recorded 9 interceptions, 3 touchdowns and 4 forced fumbles.

Meanwhile, WR Braylon Edwards and CB Lito Sheppard missed this morning's practice session. Edwards was excused from practice due to a court appearance in connection with an alleged assault outside a Cleveland nightclub in October. Edwards pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge. He is expected to return to the Jets' facility later Tuesday, participate in team meetings and receive the game plan for the matchup at San Diego on Sunday.

Sheppard was absent from the portion of practice open to the media, but the reason for his absence was undisclosed.

LB Bart Scott practiced, despite an ankle injury.
