Jets Sign Kicker, Feely Expected To Be Let Go

The New York Jets have signed former Dallas Cowboys PK Nick Folk. who make the Pro Bowl as a rookie in 2007. The Gang Green signed him to a league minimum one-year deal.

Folk will apparently take over for veteran PK Jay Feely, who will become an unrestricted free agent. Last season, Feely hit 30 of 36 field goal attempts and appeared to be a favorite of coach Rex Ryan.

Folk, meanwhile, hit just 18 of 28 field goals last season and missed eight of his final 11 attempts before being released.

The Jets will probably sign another kicker, or re-sign Feely, to compete with Folk in training camp.

What is the point? Why are we signing a garbage ass kicker like this? I understand letting Feely go, but why replace him with garbage? We could probably sign a better kicker by throwing a dart at a list of undrafted free agents.

According to ESPN.com, they signed Folk as a backup plan in case Feely does leave. Feely, however, wants to remain here and is not looking for another team. So, hopefully, this is just a temporary move until the situation with Feely becomes clear.
