NFL Draft

Jets sign Joe McKnight

Admin - June 23, 2010

The New York Jets have signed 4th round draft selection RB Joe McKnight to a 4-year deal worth around $2.36M. McKnight, 5'11", 194lbs, was selected 112th overall by the Jets in the April draft. He played in 36 games, including 13 starts, during his 3 seasons at USC.

The Jets have two draft picks left to sign -- CB Kyle Wilson (1st round) and OG Vladimir Ducasse (2nd round). To make space, the team waived three players yesterday: K Jared Ballman, S Brannon Condren and DT Mick Williams.

The Jets are counting on McKnight to compete for playing time as a 3rd down back and, possibly, as a kick returner. He got off to a lousy start in the first minicamp, vomiting on the field and dropping several passes. He also wasn't happy when he learned that he'd be wearing #25, the same number former USC star Reggie Bush wears for the New Orleans Saints. McKnight has grown weary of comparisons to Bush.
