Jets reach agreement with Mangold

Admin - August 23, 2010

All Pro C Nick Mangold has reportedly reached an agreement to sign a 7-year contract extension worth $55M. The amount of guaranteed money was still being negotiated but is expected to be more than the $20M Rams C Jason Brown received last year.

Mangold was scheduled to make $3.3M this season in the final year of his rookie deal, which will be included as the first year in the new contract.

Mangold is the second member of the Jets’ core of young starters to reach a long-term deal this year. LT D’Brickashaw Ferguson signed a six-year, $60M extension in July.

Meanwhile, CB Drew Coleman signed a 1-year, $850,000 deal 10 days ago to lock up his spot on the 53-man roster.
