Jets Player Release

Jets welcome Santonio Holmes, get rid of Clowney

Admin - October 4, 2010

According to various source, the Jets are going to release WR David Clowney and WR Patrick Turner to make room for WR Santonio Holmes and DT Howard Green. Holmes, who was suspended for the first four games of regular season, is expected to make the evolving Jets passing game even more dangerous. He's a proven deep threat and basically impossible to cover in the slot. Green, who was released last week to make room for DE Trevor Pryce, will be re-signed.

WR David Clowney, once known as Mr. August due to his stellar performances in preseason, has been a disappointment. The Jets hoped he would become a solid deep threat; however Clowney's impressive speed never materialized on the field. He caught just 16 passes for 239 yards, 1 TD in 18 career games with the Gang Green.

WR Patrick Turner was brought in prior to the game against the Miami Dolphins mostly to help gather information on the Dolphins, as Turner was on Miami's roster earlier this year. He played in only 3 games and never caught a pass.
