OT Damien Woody, who had arthroscopic knee surgery in December and missed the last three games of regular season, has been placed on injured reserve. Woody suffered an Achilles injury and will undergo surgery Wednesday afternoon, according to head coach Rex Ryan. OT Wayne Hunter started in place of Woody and did a pretty good job. He's also expected to start on Sunday against the Patriots.

WR Santonio Holmes (quadriceps) returned to practice after missing a day. OG Brandon Moore wasn't seen on the field during the first 30 minutes of practice; the reason hasn't been disclosed. He hasn't shown up on any recent injury reports.OG Rob Turner worked at right guard in Moore's absence.

QB Mark Sanchez, who did very little throwing Tuesday, stepped up his workload, as per usual for the second practice of the week. He was throwing with more zip on his passes during the quarterback drills.
