Jets Player Release

Jets Continue Making Final Cuts, Trade Lowery

Admin - September 3, 2011

The New York Jets have just a few hours left to trim their roster down to the required 53. They cut 16 players yesterday, reducing the squad size to 61, which means that 8 more players have to be let go today. WR Scotty McKnight is the only this year's draft pick who didn't make the roster thus far, as he was among yesterday's casualties.

CB Ellis Lankster, who was also cut, is not eligible for the practice squad, so he won't be returning to the Jets.

According to several reports, TE Josh Baker has been infiormed that the team will cut him but they would like him back on the practice squad if he clears waivers. So, as of right now, the Gang Green have to cut 7 more players.

Baker, 24, caught 3 passes for 30 yards in the preseason finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Jets also cut C Robby Felix, OG Matt Kroul, LB Matthias Berning, DT Jarron Gilbert, CB Julian Posey, S Tracy Wilson and WR Patrick Turner.

S Dwight Lowery was sent to the Jaguars for a conditional draft pick. The Gang Green also acquired OG Caleb Schlauderaff from the Packers for a conditional draft pick. Schlauderaff was taken in the sixth round of the 2011 draft by Green Bay.
