Jets Free Agent Signings

Braylon Edwards might be on his way back

Admin - July 24, 2013

According to various sources, the Jets might be close to bringing back WR Braylon Edwards who\'s had two stints with the Jets in 2009-10 and 2012. Edwards is currently taking a physical at the New York Jets facility at Florham Park, NJ. The Gang Green are searching for a veteran receiver and worked out WR Austin Collie and WR Laurent Robinson earlier this week but chose not to sign either.

Edwards, 30, caught 98 passes in 31 games for the Jets. The Gang Green acquired him via a trade with the Browns in 2009 but let him go after the 2010 seasons, opting to sign WR Santonio Holmes to a long-term contract instead. In December of 2012 the Jets claimed Edwards off waivers after he was waived by the Seattle Seahawks. Edwards caught 10 passes in 3 games.

The Jets are rather thin at wide receiver, especially considering Holmes' uncertain status, and could use any help they can get. If Edwards does sign with the Gang Green, he will be reunited with his former Browns teammate, TE Kellen Winslow Jr.
