Injuries

Lex Hilliard is out for season, Bohanon to start at FB

FB Lex Hilliard, who played in 12 games for the Jets last season and started 9 of them, broke his shoulder blade in Tuesday's practice and is done for the season. He’ll have surgery next week and be placed on the injured reserve. After missing first two preseason games due to a rib injury, Hilliard left the Tuesday's practice in severe pain. Afterward, Rex Ryan mentioned a possible shoulder dislocation.

His injury opens the door for FB Tommy Bohanon, a 7th round draft pick who's been impressive in camp and would probably win the starting job anyway.

Hilliard, a 5-year veteran, spent the first three years of his career with the Miami Dolphins where he played in every game. In 2012 he signed with the Vikings who cut him prior to the start of the regular season. Hilliard then played two games for the Patriots before signing with the Gang Green. He rushed for 31 yards on 8 carries and caught 4 passes for 23 yards in 12 games for the Jets.
