Jets trade Hackenberg to Raiders

Christian Hackenberg, we hardly knew ya... The New York Jets traded their 2nd round draft pick of 2016, QB Christian Hackenberg, to the Raiders for a conditional 7th round draft pick. Hackenberg, 23, who was once projected to be groomed into a potential starter, did not play a single down for the Gang Green in two years with the team.

Hackenberg became expendable after the Jets signed QB Terry Bridgewater, re-signed Josh McCown and then drafted QB Sam Darnold. QB Bryce Petty, another signal caller who failed to impress the coaching staff, was released earlier this month and subsequently signed with the Dolphins.

Hackenberg received zero reps Tuesday at the Jets’ first organized team activity of the spring, while the trade was obviously in the works. He was a spectator as the remaining three quarterbacks were rotated behind the center.
