Darnold out again, Flacco to start against Chargers

It's getting from bad to worse for QB Sam Darnold. The Jets have announced that Darnold will miss the next game against the Chargers and is out indefinitely. He already missed 3 of last 5 games due an injury in his right shoulder. Darnold is arguably having the worst season of his short NFL career, throwing just 3 touchdown passes in 6 games. He's thrown 6 interceptions and been sacked 19 times.

As the Jets (0-9) continue their endless nosedive, it's becoming pretty clear that this season might become Darnold's last in Jets uniform. The former #3 overall draft pick, who many thought would be the franchise quarterback for years to come, is 11-21 as a starter, and his QBR (44.7) is 36th out of 36 qualifying quarterbacks since 2018.

QB Joe Flacco, who played well in the first half against the Patriots, will start again. Rookie OT Mekhi Becton, who left last game with a chest injury, appears "good to go" for Sunday’s game. DL Quinnen Williams should be available as well, although the team expects him to be limited in practice.
