Injuries

Carl Lawson out for season

The Jets took a big risk when they signed injury prone free agent DE Carl Lawson to a 3-year deal worth $45M and it looks like it didn't exactly play out the way the Gang Green would have liked. He ruptured his Achilles tendon earlier today and will miss the entire season. Lawson, 26, tore his ACL as a sophomore in college and then again in 2018 as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Jets had high hopes for the pass-rushing specialist but, just like in the case of LB C.J. Mosley a couple of years ago, it will have to wait. Although, given Lawson's history of injuries, it would not be a big surprise if Lawson ended up never playing for the Jets at all.

S Zane Lewis also suffered a season-ending injury during the this morning's joint practice with the Green Bay Packers. The Jets said he tore his patella tendon and has a sprained MCL.
