Jets drop out of top 5 in power rankings

Admin - September 27, 2011

The fact that the Jets' heralded defense gave up 234 rushing yards to the Oakland Raiders didn't live well with the top three sports websites, all of whom considerably lowered the Gang Green in their latest power rankings. ESPN was the most kind one, as they put the Jets at #7 (down from #3 a week ago). FOX Sports dropped the Jets 6 spots down, from #4 to #10. Finally, CBS Sports, the usual Jets haters, put the Gang Green out of the top 10 - to #11 from #3 a week ago.

Here's what the top 3 websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN:  Jets are in a tough spot facing back-to-back road games against Ravens and Patriots.

FOX Sports: Rex Ryan's defense rarely gives up 100 yards rushing, and that is what makes Oakland's 234 yards on the ground even more impressive. The difference between the Raiders and Ravens (the Jets' next opponent) is that Baltimore can also pass. The Jets are in jeopardy of losing two in a row and falling out of the top 10.

CBS Sports: Where is that dominant defense? And where is the running game? Aren't those supposed to be staples of this team?
