Gang Green bounce back in power rankings

Admin - October 23, 2013

Beating the Patriots always make a team look good and the Gang Green's win against Tom Brady and Co. was no exception. Following their overtime win on Sunday, the Jets' stock got a major boost in all five power rankings. ESPN, FOX Sports and CBS Sports all moved Rex Ryan's team five spots up. ESPN now has them at #15 (#20 last week), FOX Sports moved them up to #14 (#19 last week) and CBS Sports now has them at #13 (#18 last week). ProFootballTalk and CNN SI went even further, as they raised the Gang Green's position in their rankings by a whooping seven spots. PFT now has them at #13 (#20 last week) and CNN SI moved them up to #12 (#19 last week).

Here's what all these websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN: Geno Smith gets the headlines, but let's give it up for the Jets defense, which is allowing a league-best 3.1 yards per rush this season.

FOX Sports: The Jets snapped a six-game losing streak against the Patriots and have not lost back-to-back games. The Jets are a playoff team, but they will play spoiler at some point in the second half.

CBS Sports: They have to be one of the surprise teams in the league. Rex Ryan is doing a heck of a job.

ProFootballTalk: For the second straight year, a butt had a role in deciding a home game against the Jets.

CNN SI: If the Jets never get another thing out of running back Chris Ivory, they'll probably still deem their trade for him -- a 2013 fourth-round pick -- a success. Ivory rushing for 104 yards in a dramatic OT win over the hated Patriots makes anything that happens from here on a bonus.
