Power rankings: Jets remain in top 10

Admin - October 15, 2015

The Gang Green did not play last week and their power rankings position expectedly remained pretty much the same. Only ESPN lowered the Jets' ranking (#9 last week) and placed them outside of the top 10 (#11 this week). FOX Sports kept Todd Bowles' team at #7, the highest ranking among the sites we're tracking. Yahoo Sports moved the Jets up to #7 as well (#8 last week). Pro Football Talk also moved the Gang Green up to #8, one spot higher than in the previous week. Finally, CBS Sports placed the Jets at #8 (up from #10 last week). The slight move up in the rankings is related to DT Sheldon Richardson's return, which should make the Jets' defense (#1 in points allowed and #2 in yards allowed) even better.

Here's what the power rankings websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN: Winning the turnover battle is key for the Jets. They're 12-0 since 2012 when winning the battle (3-0 this season), but 9-31 when they don't.

FOX Sports: With Sheldon Richardson returning this week, opposing offenses will find it difficult to move the ball on the Jets. If the explosive offensive core -- Chris Ivory, Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker can stay healthy -- the offense should continue to move the football and score points.

CBS Sports: They come off their bye with a home game against the Redskins. An already good defense gets Sheldon Richardson back, which helps.

ProFootballTalk: Sheldon Richardson is back, which means the Jets should be even better.

Yahoo Sports: The Jets have to play Washington before a big game at New England. If they get past that look-ahead spot, it should be a fun Week 7 game in Foxborough.
