Power rankings: Jets continue rising

Admin - October 22, 2015

The New York Jets continued climbing up the power rankings ladder, following their solid win against the Washington Redskins. Todd Bowles' team is now in the top 10 of all five power rankings that we're tracking. And if they beat the Pats on Sunday, they will surely crack the top 5. FOX Sports, CBS Sports and PFT were all in agreement, as they placed the Gang Green at #6 in their latest editions of power rankings. ESPN, the only website that had the Jets outside top 10 last week, moved them 3 spots up, placing the Jets at #8. Yahoo Sports, however, lowered the Jets' stock for whatever reason from #7 last week to #8.

Here's what the power rankings websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN: Chris Ivory is averaging an NFL-best 115.0 rushing yards per game this season. The Jets are 4-0 when Ivory is in the lineup (0-1 without him).

FOX Sports: The Jets are playing well on both sides of the football, aside from a few too many careless turnovers. With an aggressive defense and a power running game, the Jets are built to last as the colder months arrive.

CBS Sports: At 4-1, Todd Bowles has his team off to a fast start. The defense is playing really well, and now faces a huge test in the Patriots.

ProFootballTalk: When does the Jets coach start spouting off about how much he hates Bill Belichick and Tom Brady? Oh wait, that guy’s gone.

Yahoo Sports: Not to be like a baseball team worried about innings pitched, but Chris Ivory has never had more than 198 carries in a season. He has 83 in four games played this year. If that average keeps up and he plays in all 11 remaining games, that would be 311 carries. Something to watch.
