Power rankings: Jets remain in top 10 despite losing

Admin - October 28, 2015

The spirited loss against the New England Patriots seemed to have only solidified the Gang Green's position as a legitimate playoff contender. All pundits are confident that the Jets are for real, and as PFT put it, "can beat anyone." ESPN and PFT kept Todd Bowles' team exactly where it was last week - at #8 and #6 respectively. Both FOX Sports and Yahoo Sports placed the Jets two spots down compared to last week, as the Gang Green now occupies #8 and #10 in these power rankings. Finally, CBS Sports dropped the Jets by 3 points but kept them in the top 10 as well, at #10.

Here's what the power rankings websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN: The Jets are averaging 170.1 rushing yards in their four wins this season. They were held under 100 yards in each of their two losses, averaging 68.0 rushing yards in those games.

FOX Sports: Ryan Fitzpatrick’s ability to complete short and intermediate passes on third downs has allowed the Jets to control the time of possession, and his skill position players have helped him finish off drives -- the Jets have the NFL’s third-highest, red-zone touchdown percentage.

CBS Sports: They showed well at New England, but that isn't good enough to win the division. Todd Bowles still has this team heading in the right direction.

ProFootballTalk: The Jets should emerge from their loss to the Patriots confident that they can beat anyone.

Yahoo Sports: Chris Ivory was really banged up on Sunday with a hamstring injury. He averaged just 2.4 yards per attempt. Maybe if he was healthy, the Jets could have finished the upset.
