The 2021 season is over for the Jets. The Gang Green ended up pretty much where they have been all year long - #29 in the final edition of the NFL power rankings. Unfortunately, ESPN and the Sporting News did not produce final edition of their power rankings, so we had to go with just the remaining four websites. Yahoo Sports gave Robert Saleh's team their highest evaluation, as they placed them at #27. CBS, on the other hand, put the Jets at #31. ProFootballTalk and NFL.com both had the Jets at their consensus #29 overall. Although the Jets haven't made the playoffs since Rex Ryan's second year in 2010, you can still make NFL bets on the upcoming playoff matchups.
Here's what different power rankings websites had to say about the Jets:
CBS Sports: They just didn't have the talent to compete this season. They have to build this team around Zach Wilson.
ProFootballTalk: If Joe Douglas isn’t already on the hot seat, when will he be?
Yahoo Sports: The good part about Zach Wilson's rookie season is he didn't throw an interception in any of this last five games. He didn't have multiple interceptions in a game from Week 3 on. It was a rough ride but there are a few positives to carry forward.
NFL.com: A season of growing pains ended on a down note for the Jets, who managed just 53 yards of offense (an all-time franchise low) in a 27-10 loss to the Bills. Zach Wilson showed signs of progress in the final weeks of the season, and now it’s on general manager Joe Douglas to build a more competitive roster around the young quarterback. Major areas of need include playmaker talent at wide receiver and tight end, as well as help on all fronts for a defense that ranked 32nd in football. With the postseason drought at a league-worst 11 years, it’s long past due for the Jets to make a return to pro football relevance.
