The New York Jets have just a few hours left to trim their roster down to the required 53. They cut 16 players yesterday, reducing the squad size to 61, which means that 8 more players have to be let go today. WR Scotty McKnight is the only this year's draft pick who didn't make the roster thus far, as he was among yesterday's casualties.
According to the latest reports, the Jets have restructured the contracts of LB Calvin Pace, OG Brandon Moore, LB Bart Scott and RB LaDainian Tomlinson. We don't know the numbers yet, but the main purpose of these moves is definitely to create more salary cap room to sign CB Nnamdi Asomugha. It also seems like the Dallas Cowboys have emerged as the new contestant for Asomugha's services.
The New York Jets selected two more offensive players in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft. QB Greg McElroy from Alabama and WR Scotty McKnight from Colorado became last two players chosen by the Gang Green.
